Joey Oliver

Joey Oliver, from Hexham in Northumberland, plays whistle in the band 422 and plays and calls for the Northumbrian Ceilidh band The Hedgehog's Skin. He has a deep knowledge of Northumbrian traditional music and dance, as well as traditional Irish whistle styles. A full-time teacher, he has been a frequent tutor at Folkworks Summer Schools, and led workshops at festivals and residential courses across the  country and beyond. He is equally happy teaching beginners from scratch, or focussing on details of style and technique with more experienced players.
